Blood
So I went to donate blood yesterday with my two sisters. The three of us aren't together all that much considering our separate social lives and my middle sister is married. But when we are together, they make for some hilarious moments.
My youngest has donated like 8 times in her life, it was my third and my middle sisters very first time.
So the person is about to stick the needle in my arm and tells me to squeeze the ball. I must have squeezed too hard because as soon as she stuck the needle in, blood squirted everywhere. OK, not everywhere but enough to spot the right side of my shirt, across my chest and land on my left arm. I was like....
... yo, was that my blood?!?! Hahhahahaha. Anyway, it didn't hurt that much just caught me by surprise. The attendant felt sooo bad and I found it kind of funny after the initial point of alarm.
This all reminds me of a good friend who went to NYU for premed and dropped it after she found out that the sight of blood makes her light headed. Which would be embarrassing... fainting at the patient's feet while drawing blood.
I know everyone's busy but try to take some time out to donate blood. Blood centers seem to be perpetually low on blood supply.
Question of the day is: So does the site of blood...your own or someone else's make you faint? Or light-headed?
