  • Blood

So I went to donate blood yesterday with my two sisters.  The three of us aren't together all that much considering our separate social lives and my middle sister is married.  But when we are together, they make for some hilarious moments.

My youngest has donated like 8 times in her life, it was my third and my middle sisters very first time.

So the person is about to stick the needle in my arm and tells me to squeeze the ball.  I must have squeezed too hard because as soon as she stuck the needle in, blood squirted everywhere.  OK, not everywhere but enough to spot the right side of my shirt, across my chest and land on my left arm.  I was like.... ... yo, was that my blood?!?!  Hahhahahaha.  Anyway, it didn't hurt that much just caught me by surprise. The attendant felt sooo bad and I found it kind of funny after the initial point of alarm.

This all reminds me of a good friend who went to NYU for premed and dropped it after she found out that the sight of blood makes her light headed.  Which would be embarrassing... fainting at the patient's feet while drawing blood.

I know everyone's busy but try to take some time out to donate blood.  Blood centers seem to be perpetually low on blood supply.

Question of the day is:  So does the site of blood...your own or someone else's make you faint?  Or light-headed?

  • Cab Ride

Hit Lobby for a birthday party one night and on the way out, I left with some friends to share a cab.  So the three of them get in the back and I'm up front with the driver.  Anyway, we're on the way over to the West Side Highway when the dude just yells:  WHAT?!?!

    .....

    Me: Uhm....I...uh...didn't say anything, sir..........

    *ten seconds of silence*

Cab driver starts speaking in Indian....*click click*....OK!!

    Me: Uhm.... ok...then.

Yea...Lil Jon's Indian cousin was driving me around in a cab.

I didn't find out until later after I jumped into the back seat that he had a hands free headset on.  Hahhahaahahahah.

Share your weird cab ride stories!

    And daaaaaaaammnnnn...its nice out!

  • Weddings

Congratulations to Andy and Elaine! The weather may not have cooperated on Saturday but the weather was overshadowed by one of the more special wedding ceremonies I've been privileged to witness.

I think this was the first wedding I've been to that actually made me say to myself:  "Soon, it will be your turn."    Still too early to really be scared since I'm not even dating anyone..hahahah.

And then after the wedding and the settling down feeling...I went partying later that night. (The reception was in the afternoon).

Another friend asked me if there was anything I HAD to have at my wedding.  Which of course I said there was none besides friends and family...and the bride of course.  If it was up to me, I'd have the whole thing at any place that could support feeding everyone.  I've always been more of a "The company is more important than the venue" kind of guy.  Anyway, I think that question is more apropo for females.

So ladies, besides friends, family and the groom....is there anything you MUST have for your wedding?  And don't tell me you haven't thought about it because I know you have! hahahahah.

March 24, 2005

  • Hello, a friend of mine from NYU opened her very own bridal shop.  She's not a newbie tho, she grew up in a bridal shop and now she's ventured on her own.  Pretty awesome.  Invite details here: http://www.weddingatelier.com/rg_trunkshow_invite.htm.  Check it out if you're a prospective bride/groom.

I remember reading a bunch of sites and how a lot of people aspired to be their own business owners.  Maybe its because so many of our parents or relatives were entrepreneurs.  I think a car dealership would be kind of fun, no?  You get to test drive all the new cars that car manufacturers make.

So if you were to start a business...what would it be?

  • Exercise

I didn't work out for like six weeks and man, I was feeling extra stressed and grouchy by my standards.  So even tho I am a firm believer that age ain't nothing but a number...I should amend it to- "Age ain't nothing but a number as long as you work out" Hahahahah.  Seriously, exercise helps.  You just have to do it with enough sleep.  And what's with people who I've been talking to who need to sleep before 11pm?  When I was 23, it was a struggle just to get to bed before 2am....and I thought that was a good day.

Words of wisdom from Reese Witherspoon from Legally Blonde - "Exercise produces endorphins and endorphins make people happy."  or something to that effect... hahahaha.  And uhm... I only watched Legally Blonde cuz my sisters were watching it.  So shut it.  Bend and snap, babeeee .  Hahhahaha.

  • eXpressive: 7/10
    Practical: 4/10
    Physical: 4/10
    Giver: 6/10

You are a XSIG--Expressive Sentimental Intellectual Giver. This makes you a Teddy Bear.

Hee! I just want to give you a big squeeze. You are tender, honest, generous and fair. You are an excellent kisser and a sensitive, communicative lover, and you know it. You would never intentionally hurt someone's feelings or overstep his/her boundaries. You have beautiful eyes.

Most people take your laid-back attitude, blazing wit and subtle sexiness and stick you in "friend." But some see your extreme hotness for what it is and latch on. This means you have a few members of your target sex in the bank at all times -- I call this "money in the sex bank" -- but you're too sensitive and thoughtful to exploit them. More than once.

You are so rational and deliberate in an argument that it can frustrate and exhaust your partner. Your fights can take forever, but your press on with them until they are completely resolved and both you and your partner are satisfied. If your partner is weak of will, s/he may just give in -- be wary of this! An emotional or passive-aggressive outburst later will hurt and horrify you.

It is *critically important* that you are able to respect your partner. The moment you lose respect for him/her, you lose everything.

When you make friends, you make them for life -- you can go without speaking to a friend for years and pick up right where you left off. You are completely faithful, both physically and emotionally. You are the second best (to XPIG) parent of any type.

If you are male, you have a huge shlong. Just saying.

Of the 207389 people who have taken this quiz, 7.9 % are this type.

Hahahahah....its actually pretty on point.  =P

  • Dragon boat LAND practice

Everytime I tell people that dragon boat season has started, they think we're getting into the water already.  No...we're not getting into the water yet.  We are however meeting up as a team to workout together.  Just some jogging and calisthenics.

Where?  Central Park - The volleyball courts east of Sheep Meadow.  Map is here.  Look for the red arrow.

When? March 13 and 20 (Sundays), March 26 and April 2 (Saturdays)

    What time? 9:30am-11am

Why?  Because you probably haven't worked out all winter and its FREE.  Working out once a week won't make you totally fit but what it does do is kind of give you the incentive to workout during the week a little so that practice on Sunday doesn't seem quite as hard.  And the best part is that its a team environment so you're much less likely to slack off.

Common excuses - aka Crying me a river

Its too cold - you'll warm up during the workout.  For sure.

I'm out of shape - That's why you should go, to start getting into shape.

I can't commit to joining the team - You don't have to join the team, there is no obligation.  Its just a good way for people to start working out.

I'm going to get too big (from the girls) - you're not lifting, its just calisthenics like pushups and situps.  If anything, you'll lose fat.

Note: Its outdoors, so I suggest you dress in layers.  Bring lots of water, you're going to need it.  Because you'll be on the court doing situps, try not to wear white workout gear.  I also suggest you eat a light breakfast 30-45 minutes beforehand.

    Do it!
