  • Xanga is back!

Well, back in the sense that my IT guys have allowed access to it without telling me.  Even though I’m the director of IT here…. what’s up with that?!

Anyway, I’m such a Xanga noob now that it took me a *tiny* bit of time to actually find out how to start a new blog.  Dah!

Sooo…. I get a phone call from this guy Rod, works for an IT consulting company and after I hear him out… I go, well my IT admin would arrange all that.  However, just before I transfer him, he goes… btw, I went to school with a guy named Kinsen… from Governor Livingston?    Man… really small world.  Soooo…. in one of his emails he says “Btw, I will NEVER forget a book report that you did for Ms. LeSage’s class”    He’s referring to my 10th grade english teacher and a oral presentation I had to do for a book report.  Anyway, seeing as she reminded me and I was desperate, I used a baseball book I picked up that week.  So its a professional ball player talking about “beaver”.  Me being the sheltered kid with asian parents had never heard of the term.  And though I knew it was slang for something… I wasn’t quite sure.  Its not like I could look it up on wikipedia seeing as the internet wasn’t even a term to us back then.  So what do I do?  Why, I’ll just do what my teacher asked me to do which is to read some excerpts from the book.  Now… this being almost two decades ago and my psyche having done a clever job of scrubbing this from memory…. I don’t remember alllll the details of what I said but according to my friend, it pretty much went something like “beaverbeaverbeaverbeaverbeaverbeaver*deep breathe*beaverbeaverbeaverbeaverbeaverbeaver”  HAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHA.  I’m cracking up now at the memory of it but I really didn’t know what it meant but I do remember thinking… why is everyone laughing?  I haven’t even read the punch line yet!!  My english teacher was NOT pleased.

Anyway… the moral of the story is:  Don’t answer your phone. It could be your high school buddy trying to being back memories that your mind has suppressed.  Just kidding… I’m going to meet up with him and another HS buddy for drinks tomorrow.  Looking forward to it!

  • LOL!! welcome back to xanga! i still don’t get why your IT guys blocked YOU from xanga… when you’re the IT director around there. *shaking head*

It’s funny you should mention about bumping into old high school buddies. A few weeks ago, this guy I knew from 9th grade looked me up on FB and asked to meet up. Natch, I invited him out for drinks with a large group of my friends, including Larry. As soon as the guy saw me at the bar, he gave me this huge bear hug/squeeze. And when he talked to me, he was literally 2 centimeters from my face. Did he think I was hard of hearing?? The whole night, he kept giving me the heebie jeebies, even though Larry was twice his size, and standing RIGHT THERE!! Larry thought the whole exchange was hilarious, of course. At the end of the night, the guy gave me another bear hug. Unfort, now this guy can’t stop emailing and calling to hang out again, and I don’t think I wanna go thru that again! I was on the bus a few days ago, and lo and behold, I see this same guy standing on a street corner as I’m getting off the bus! Needless to say, I had to maneuver thru the crowds so he didn’t see me, and I ran away. Anyway… moral of the story: Be careful which high school buddy you meet up with!

  • Haha man I’ll have so many things people will bring up in future years, it’s going to be so funny. I’ve definitely had similar FAIL moments on projects haha.

  • welcome back to xanga!  unfortunately, a lot of people have already left and it seems useless to try convincing them to return.  facebook has taken over!

    funny story mr. beaver! haha

  • @IMistressI - facebook has definitely taken over but having xanga a little less populated isn’t so bad.  i feel like I can just blog and not “entertain”…. =)

  • Hey Kinsen, beaverbeaverbeaver Where’s the green tea cookie recipe? beaverbeaverbeaver =P

  • this story alone should bring people back to xanga.

  • i must still be sheltered…. not sure i know what a beaver is. except the cute animal….

  • you arse- hahaha!

  • Good to see you on Xanga!  :)

I hope to see more of you here.  While the traffic is lower, the interaction is more meaningful here than on FB, I think… Hehe.

      I love that song too!
